About This Wine

The idea of Black Tie came to winemaker Alex Heinrich whilst he was enjoying a good white Burgundy with some potted shrimp. He thought that although the Burgundy was full-bodied, it still had a certain dryness and was not overly acidic. He then began to wonder which of his Alsace wines could show a similar flavour. He felt that one grape by itself could not show this requirement, so came up with this blend of Pinot Gris (60%) and Riesling (40%).
