About This Wine

Made from 100% Chardonnay from vines grown in the Grand Cru vineyards of Les Bougros, in the north west of Chablis. These vineyards are the most westerly of the seven Grand Cru vineyards. The alternate layers of Kimmeridgian limestone and clay, originating from fossilised sea shells (Ostrea Virgula), impart a unique mineral quality to the wine. Compared with other Grand Cru vineyards, the soil is richer, containing a higher proportion of clay and less gravel.

Facing west/south west, the vineyard is prone to frost and on hilly, uneven terrain, most of the vineyard has to be cultivated by hand and by using winches. The vineyard is herbicide and pesticide free and so the vines are heavily pruned to maximize their potential.
